The municipality Flörsheim-Dalsheim (formerly two villages, they were merged in 1970) is located in the south of the wine-growing region Rheinhessen in the federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Here in the ‘southern Wonnegau’ climate is warm and sunny. Everything has revolved around viticulture since as early as the 8th century.
Today, Flörsheim-Dalsheim has about 3500 inhabitants, over 50 wineries, 600 hectares of vineyards and a good 11000 vines per citizen. It goes without saying that wine is celebrated as an important cultural asset with regular events. In addition to the highly awarded wines, the ‘Fleckenmauer’ – Dalsheim’s completely preserved fortification from the 14th century – is one of the greatest cultural attractions of the entire region. The two historic town centres with their three churches, or the well-developed trail network around the village also make Flörsheim-Dalsheim a popular holiday-destination.
The quality of life is high amidst the extensive vineyards. At the same time, Flörsheim-Dalsheim is excellently connected. Situated directly on the national road B271, highway A61 is only a few minutes’ drive away. The two nearest cities, Alzey and Worms, are both 12 kilometres away and can easily be reached by train via the local railway station. The Rhine-Neckar conurbation with the major cities Ludwigshafen and Mannheim can be reached by car in about 30 minutes. The international airport Frankfurt-Main is about 70 kilometres away.
Due to its appeal, Flörsheim-Dalsheim has not only attracted numerous new residents in recent years. Excellent wines, a sunny climate and cultural highlights have also generated much interest for tourists. The current challenge is to meet the ever increasing demand with additional apartments, guest rooms and culinary options.
